We have two “Taster” courses for the absolute beginner, offering a convenient and accessible opportunity to come and have a go at some woodworking.
Woodworking Basics 1 is an introduction to fine woodworking skills with an emphasis on the use of hand tools and simple, easy to use machines like the bandsaw and drill press. Students will be introduced to the joys of hand cut joinery using a variety of hand tools and techniques including use of measuring and marking equipment, the hand saw, chisels and the hand plane. You will learn how to cut and fit a joint by hand as well as how to set up and operate the bandsaw and drill press.
Students will take home a project that incorporates all the skills learnt during the course. This is a small bench seat which can be taken home either as an additional piece of luggage via Air NZ or will easily fit into a car - alternatively, we can arrange to ship it home for you.
Group bookings can be arranged – if you would like to come for a long weekend course with a group of friends please get in touch to make arrangements.
