Woodworking Basics #2

We have two “Taster” courses for the absolute beginner, offering a convenient and accessible opportunity to come and have a go at some woodworking.

In this course - Woodworking Basics 2 - you will learn how to make the set project of a small decorative box and during this course you will use a variety of hand tools and some of the workshop machinery to produce this attractive project to take home.

There will be some opportunity for you to individualise the box to suit it your own taste.  Some time will be spent on the ‘look of your project’ – we will look at some decorative techniques, and finishing of your project.

Skills covered:-

  • Hand tools

  • Machining – table saw / bandsaw / thicknesser

  • Finishing techniques – pyrography / colour / finishing

The course is an introduction to fine woodworking skills with an emphasis on the use of hand tools and simple, easy to use machines like the bandsaw, table saw and thicknesser. The box project will incorporate all the skills learnt during the 4-day course.

Group bookings can be arranged – if you would like to come for a long weekend course with a group of friends please get in touch to make arrangements.
