It's been an incredible month here in the workshop with the "Exploration of Curves" Residency with Yuri Kobayashi & David Haig and our 8 wonderful students taking over the school. Watching all these incredible makers do their thing has been truly inspirational! We've been posting the recaps of each week on our social media, (FB and Instagram) so if you haven't seen those pictures, please do check them out to see the progress each week has brought.
We're gearing up for the start of our Short Course Programme end of Feb with a few spots left in the Dovetail Box Making course. We're planning to run 39 short courses this year! A few new ones too that we're just putting the final touches on. The Open Day will be on the 29th March, and on the 31st of March we welcome our 8 full time students who will be with us until Dec. It's all happening and we're very excited.
You are cordially invited to an illustrated talk by Yuri Kobayashi

There's still a bit of time to enrol in these two courses...
Dive into Dovetails for Intermediate woodworkers, and have a go with the Basics for the beginner woodworker.
A bit of info about the course and what's covered from David:
Lots of fun woodworking in this piece, and hanging it on a wall requires finding just one stud. We'll cover the basics of compression bending with a steam bending strap and end stop, a lot of different handcut joinery, including various housing joints and wedged through tenon. We don't neglect the Router though, and use it to cut circular housing slots for setting in the orbital ring and rebating the central panel. Talking of which, we'll do a little veneering to create a radial eight way match, and then inset a milled brass hanging plate on the back face, using the schools milling machine.
All up, a great way to connect with an array of Woodworking techniques, and go home with a very appealing piece too.
We are currently planning some new courses to add to our 2025 Short Course Schedule!
