FRIENDS OF THE SCHOOL
The Centre for Fine Woodworking is a registered charity. Our charitable status was granted to us in recognition of our quest to preserve and pass on the time honoured skills to future generations of woodworkers otherwise these skills will be lost forever. We are the only school in not for profit woodworking school in New Zealand.
Much of what goes on behind the scenes here to create this very special place is due to a handful of people's absolute passion and belief in the school. The place just wouldn't be the same without the many hours of voluntary work and endless goodwill from the trustees (unpaid) and the core staff (who don’t earn a lot!). Those of you have been here in the workshop probably understand the uniqueness of our school - you've experienced the quality of the teaching and you have learnt from experts in their field who are passionate about sharing their knowledge.
As a charitable organisation, the school has not been immune from the economic disruptions of the past few years. Additionally, we are at a key decision point on school expansion, securing our current location and positioning the school for the next generations of woodworkers.
Most of all, we want to ensure the school flourishes and continues to be an internationally-recognised centre for fine woodworking. We believe you, as a part of our woodworking family, can play a vital role in achieving our vision.
