The 2023 Michael Fortune 6 Week Residency Programme

Michael Fortune will be returning again in the Summer of 2022 as Artist in Residence, and has very generously offered an exciting opportunity to those who would like to spend six weeks of uninterrupted time dedicated to creating their own new design and work alongside him in an open studio environment. Participants will need to be self-directed with sufficient skills and experience to work independently on their chosen project which will be completed within the six week period. Michael will be creating a piece of his own work and will be available for mentoring, guidance, consultation and tutorship at specific times each day. This is a rare opportunity to work alongside and learn from one of North America's most respected and creative contemporary furniture masters. Michael is highly respected and acknowledged not only as a world class teacher and mentor, but also for his design and technical expertise.

This six week programme will allow you the opportunity and freedom to focus on the creation and completion of a new idea or concept which may take your future work in a new direction, or alternatively to undertake a project of your choice that would otherwise seem too daunting. Participants will work alongside Michael and their peers in an encouraging, supportive and highly motivated environment. This programme is open to emerging and established furniture makers/woodworkers and former students who have the appropriate level of skill and experience and are ready to push themselves out of their comfort zone - whether that be for professional or personal growth.

Places available are strictly limited and you will be asked to put forward a project proposal/outline before being accepted. We highly recommend early expressions of interest and invite you to contact us for further details regarding fees and your project submission.
