Woodworking machines are an important part of the furniture making process but can often be intimidating. Intended for the beginner, this course offers an introduction to wood machining with an emphasis on safe and efficient techniques, including the use of push sticks and auxillary fences. Students will learn how to safely set up and operate common woodworking machinery and the process for milling lumber in preparation for cutting joinery. We will cover use of the bandsaw, jointer, thickness planer, table saw and drill press.
