Centre for Fine Woodworking - Chair Making

New Zealand's premier furniture making, woodworking & design school

Chair Making:

This two week course is an exciting introduction into the remarkable art of chair making. In this course you will make a wooden armchair with deep circular backrest, steam bent from American Ash with hand tapered legs and a woven seat.

Based on Danish Modernist design, this chair was designed by furniture maker Thorkild Hansen especially to extend the skills of those who have some wood working experience, but who have not made a chair before.
