Electric Guitar Making

Tutor: Rob Bentley

The Centre for Fine Woodworking's luthier Robert Bentley has been developing an electric guitar building course to complement the acoustic guitar building course that already exists. Students will build a solid bodied electric guitar (ash or walnut, with maple neck) that is similar in style to a Fender Stratocaster.

The course will enable students to learn numerous woodworking skills including lumber selection and preparation for guitar making, body shaping, layout of neck/body joint, pickup and bridge placement, fingerboard inlays and fretting, and basic soldering techniques to make a playable guitar in a two week time frame.
