Centre for Fine Woodworking - Master Classes – David Haig

New Zealand's premier furniture making, woodworking & design school

Master Classes – David Haig

Tutor: David Haig

Course Dates
30th April – 11th May 2018

Course Fee
$1950 (Timber costs not included)

This course is to help woodworkers to develop their own designs using curved parts. David is well known for his use of fluid and sinuous curves in his award winning furniture designs but has a long background too in helping students achieve great results in their own projects.

In this course, participants will be bringing their own ideas along and with David's help and expert assistance, will be enabled to go from what may be little more than a rough idea to a properly planned and constructed project. In two weeks it is unlikely that larger projects will be able to be completed, but the hard parts, including timber–selection, curve-lay-outs, jig-making, and joinery choices could all be well underway, so that students could return to their own workshops confident of completing their projects to their best expectations.

Student numbers will be limited to six, to allow plenty of opportunity for one–on–one discussions and explanations. David will also focus in the first week on lecturing on various subjects relating to curvature, so that participants can both develop attractive curves for their own projects and then choose what technique or approach would best fit their own design.
