This two–week introductory course will establish a solid skill base and provide the foundation skills for future fine woodworking.
The course concentrates on developing basic hand skills and accurate timber preparation, setting out and cutting a number of basic woodworking joints and assembly. Students will be taken step–by–step through the safe and efficient understanding and use of the basic woodworking machines – table saw, bandsaw, jointer and thicknesser.
Students will have exclusive use of their own cabinet maker’s bench and their own tool kit (with tools only befitting that of a serious woodworker) and will complete a piece of work incorporating the skills learnt during the course.
